It’s been a long year. And just when Americans are seeing light at the end of the tunnel, politicians in Washington are creating obstacles to new jobs by threatening to increase taxes.

America’s businesses have been through enough over the past year. This is not the time for unnecessary tax increases that will destroy jobs. Congress should be saying yes to good jobs, not creating new taxes.

Your country needs you. Send a letter urging your representative to help get America back on track and oppose tax hikes on American businesses.

As your constituent and a taxpayer, I strongly urge you to oppose any new tax increase. At present, nearly 9.5 million Americans remain jobless, with over six percent unemployment, and the American people have suffered long enough. We are counting on our representatives in Washington to deliver economic recovery – not threaten the growth and resilience of our economy with unnecessary tax increases. Higher taxes will destroy jobs, slow the recovery and negatively impact the livelihoods of Americans across the nation. In fact, recent studies find that the proposed corporate tax increase could kill 159,000 jobs(1), and factoring in the entire Biden tax increase, more than 542,000 lost jobs(1).
 
The American people continue to struggle as a result of the shuttered economy. Already, at least 98,000 small businesses have permanently closed. The largest share of those closures represents restaurants and retail stores that employ working class individuals who need the most help and owned by the very people  tax increases would hit the hardest. Further, the proposed new tax hikes on businesses are expected to reduce the wages of the lowest income workers in the country. Quite simply, America’s workers can’t afford  tax hikes.
 
We strongly urge you to oppose any new tax increases. Thank you for your consideration.
